The Guidance Department at Hazelwood East offers a variety of services. It's primary service is to assist each student in his/her continued developmental, educational, and vocational growth. Thus, the student receives information about developing positive self-concepts and interpersonal skills as well as assistance in planning and adjusting his/her classes. The student also gains information about careers and receives assistance in seeking financial aid and scholarships for his/her post-secondary education. The guidance staff consists of five counselors and a department chairperson.

On this home page, you will find a calendar with deadline dates for ACT and SAT testing. Below that are copies of the Tomorrow's Spartan, a newsletter that is available to all seniors each month with important information relevant to seniors. Just click on to each month to get different information.
Students may complete the FAFSA for financial aid by going to the Senior Scholarships page on this website. All students need to apply on line, the school does not have any paper applications. The website is www.fafsa.ed.gov

By clicking on Senior Scholarships, Junior Scholarships or Summer Programs, you will see a list of current information. This same information is in paper form for students to pick up in the guidance office. This is will be updated approximately once a month. Any website listed can be reached with just a click of your mouse. When you exit the website, you will return to the scholarship page.
Guidance Staff is a page devoted to the staff. Besides a picture of each counselor and our secretary, you will see the their phone number, e-mail address, and a biography of the person.
The Athletes - Clearinghouse page is two fold. Students and parents may go directly to the NCAA Clearinghouse web site to gain information about requirements for eligibilty or even register with the clearinghouse. A new web-based program called Clearinghouse Calculator is available for parents and students to track progress toward meeting the eligibility reguirements of the NCAA as early as freshman year. This is also available directly from this area.
